Online Course | Production Tracker
Prompt
Create an editable progress tracker XLSX for a fictional online course: 8 modules, each with five deliverables (script, recording, editing, subtitles and QA), 40 items in total. Record owner role, status, planned and actual hours, and due and completion dates; automatically calculate module progress, hour variance, launch readiness and overdue risk, and provide module charts and a QA checklist. Four worksheets, all labeled "Simulated data · Not real operations". Write all content, headings, labels, sheet names and file names in English.
Result
Online_Course_Production_Tracker_Simulated.xlsx — an editable tracker for a fictional 8-module online course (40 deliverables), every sheet labelled "Simulated data · Not real operations".
Workbook structure (4 sheets, all English)
- Tracker — 40 rows: module, module title, deliverable (Script / Recording / Editing / Subtitles / QA), item ID, owner role, status, planned hrs, actual hrs, due date, completion date, plus calculated Hours variance, Variance %, Days late, Days to due, Overdue risk and Notes. Status and QA results use dropdowns; hours and dates are validated; autofilter, frozen header and print setup are set. Total row: 426.0 planned / 210.5 logged hrs, 17 done, 4 high risk.
- Module Summary — one row per module rolling up the Tracker and QA Checklist: items by status, Progress %, Planned / Logged / Variance hrs, Variance %, Overdue items, On-time done, QA pass %, Readiness score, Readiness band, Module due, Days to due, Overdue risk — with data bars and a definitions block explaining each calculation.
- QA Checklist — 24 release checks (3 per module: playback & rendering, captions & accessibility, content accuracy & brand) with pass criteria, owner, result dropdown, checked-on date and a summary block (8 Pass, 1 Fail, 15 Pending).
- Dashboard — 8 KPI cards, a module status table and three charts: module progress, planned vs logged hours, readiness score by module.
Key results as built (as of 2026-10-31): overall completion 42.5% (17 of 40); hours variance −17.5 hrs across the 20 started items; 5 items overdue; average launch readiness 43.8 → "At risk". Module 1 (95.6) and Module 2 (94.9) are "Launch ready"; Module 3 is "On track"; Modules 4–5 "At risk"; Modules 6–8 "Not ready".
How the metrics work: Progress % = completed ÷ 5; Variance = logged − planned, counted only on items with logged hours (so unstarted work doesn't read as under budget); Readiness = 50% progress + 20% on-time share + 15% hours efficiency + 15% QA pass rate; band thresholds 85 / 60 / 35; Overdue risk = High if blocked or >5 days late, Medium if 1–5 days late or due within 7 days. Dates, days late and risk use TODAY(), so they refresh when you open the file.
Independent verification: I recomputed every calculated cell from the raw input columns in a separate script and compared it to the stored formula results — 0 mismatches — and confirmed the sheet roster, the banner on all four sheets, dropdowns, filters, freeze panes and the three charts, with no formula-error tokens.
Coverage limit: the cloud Computer has no LibreOffice and no root access, so I could not render the sheets to images. Instead I ran a deterministic width-and-content audit (font metrics against column widths, row heights and wrap) — 0 overflow or clipping findings — but I have not seen the rendered pixels. Opening the file in Excel or Google Sheets will recalculate and show the live values.
All names, dates, hours and QA results are fictional demonstration data — not real operations.
