Design System | Issue Tracker
Prompt
Create an editable issue tracker XLSX for a fictional design system: 40 sample issues recording component, severity, reported and resolved dates, owner role, status and target resolution days; automatically calculate time to resolve, overdue flags and priority. Summarize by component and severity, and provide a backlog priority dashboard and a trend chart. Four worksheets, all labeled "Simulated data · Not real operations". Write all content, headings, labels, sheet names and file names in English.
Result
Design_System_Issue_Tracker.xlsx — four worksheets, every one headed "Simulated data · Not real operations".
1. Issues — 40 sample issues (DS-001…DS-040), 4 per component across 10 components, reported Nov 2025 – Oct 2026. Inputs: Component, Severity, Reported Date, Resolved Date, Owner Role, Status, Target Resolution Days (shaded blue as the editable input). Calculated:
- Time to Resolve = Resolved − Reported, or
TODAY()− Reported while open (so open ages grow daily). - Overdue Flag = Time to Resolve > Target Resolution Days.
- Priority = P1 Critical/High & overdue or open Critical · P2 High on track or Medium overdue · P3 Medium on track or Low overdue · P4 Low on track. Dropdown validation on Component, Severity, Owner Role and Status; filters, frozen panes and conditional colouring on the flag and priority columns.
2. Summary — three blocks, all formulas: by component (total, open, resolved, overdue, overdue rate, avg days to resolve, SLA met %), by severity (with target days), and a component × severity count matrix. Every block totals to 40, plus a component bar chart.
3. Backlog Dashboard — 18 KPI formulas, open backlog by priority (count, share, overdue, avg age, the rule for each band), open backlog by component with a transparent Backlog Score (Open + 2×Overdue Open + 2×Open P1/P2), the 10 oldest open issues pulled by formula, and a priority bar chart.
4. Trends — 12 monthly rows of reported, resolved, cumulative and month-end backlog, with a line chart of reported vs resolved vs open backlog.
Current simulated state: 40 issues · 15 open · 25 resolved · 19 overdue (47.5%) · SLA met 76.0% · avg 11.4 days to resolve · avg open age 171.7 days · oldest open 360 days · 8 open P1.
Checks run on the saved file: reopened from disk; 40 unique rows; all 120 calculated cells on Issues match an independent recomputation; all Summary, Dashboard and Trends figures reconcile to the row data; no formula-error tokens; 3 charts, 4 validations, conditional formatting, freeze panes and print areas present; deterministic width audit finds no clipped text.
Limits: the Computer has no spreadsheet renderer, so layout was verified by a deterministic width/content audit rather than a rendered page preview. Stored results were computed against 31 Oct 2026; on open, Excel recalculates TODAY()-based values to the current date, which will raise open ages and overdue flags over time. Column L on Issues is a helper key for the oldest-open list, not a user field.
