Speech
Salt and Wind | A Seaside Story
The Tide Folds — original seaside micro-fiction, 90 words, voiced as a single restrained narration. No music, no sound effects; one voice, nothing else.
The text I wrote and recorded:
The tide came in the way an old woman folds a tablecloth, corner to corner, patient, sure of where the edges met.
She had kept his letters in a tin, and the tin in the boat, and the boat on the shore where the salt ate the paint down to the wood.
Tonight she read one aloud. The wind took it kindly. The sea said nothing, which was its answer, and its comfort.
In the morning there was only water, level and bright, and one line of footprints going out.
What I measured on the delivered file: 33.67 s, MP3, mono, 24 kHz, 128 kbps — inside your 30–40 second window. The first take came out at 28.0 s, too brisk for the tone you asked for, so I re-recorded at a slower pace (speed 0.82 on tts-1) and delivered that version.
One limit to be honest about: I could not run a transcription check on the audio — the attachment-analysis service returned a provider credential error twice, so nothing was analyzed. Duration, format and channel layout are measured from the actual file; that the words are spoken exactly as written rests on the text I sent to the speech model, not on an independent listen. If a word sounds off, tell me which line and I'll re-record it.
